Gregory Ter-Gevondiantz

1841-1922

G. Ter-Gevondiantz arrived in Tiflis from Ganja in 1854. Young boy made friends with future writer Perch Proshian and they started to study the photography.

In 1875, he opened a photo-studio near Michaelov Bridge, where he worked till the end of life. He had connections with Armenian culture circle and was photographing almost all representatives of literature, art and science who were residing in or visiting Tiflis for some seasons. He was friends with many of them.

G. Ter-Gevondiantz was a father of famous composer Anushevan Ter-Gevondiantz, who deceased in 1962 in Erevan. His daughter, honored doctor Mariam Ter-Gevondiantz passed me part of his father's works.
